What’s Your Style?

How do you decide which kitchen is for you? So many styles, and colours to pick from. Which will suit you best? You’ll probably want your new kitchen to last many years too. It’s not something that you’re going to buy all that often. So both it’s style and longevity are going to be important.

Your personality will play a big part too, you’ll want it reflect you and your lifestyle. In addition, how it will fit into its surroundings.

Scaled Kitchen Design Plans
Design workflow with mood board and samples

There are many ways to make a start, brochures, magazines and the internet are to name just a few. A good mood board or scrap book can always help to draw your ideas together. Either with an on line version or a physical scrap book cut from kitchen design magazines, will help you to explore.

With a little bit of looking around, it will soon fill you with inspiration and ideas. Sometimes even more than is easy to digest in one go. There are many interior styles, but to keep things simple, these styles can be separated for ease into a number of basic different trends that you may find yourself leaning towards. We have listed some of the key trends as, Traditional, Transitional, Mid Century, Contemporary, Scandinavian & Industrial. These by no means are exhaustive, just a quick and easy reference. Your own flare can always cross design ideas between styles creating a very personal touch and bringing your kitchen to life.

Colour Chart

Do you like Colour? If you’re brave and like to make big bold statements, you can contrast your kitchen colours to add accent. If you’re less brave but still want an impact, you could choose to opt for a more neutral kitchen colour, but then add coloured accessories or paint the walls.

Textures and materials are as important as colour. How your kitchen feels to the touch will add to the impact. The are many different types of, timber, stone and synthetics on offer.

How do my ideas fit with my budget? You don’t want to compromise and we don’t think you have to. Good design and choice of materials will work efficiently to create you a beautiful kitchen without loosing appeal or atmosphere. Many manufactures offer different products that when used effectively will create your perfect kitchen. Our expertise can guide you how to make the most from your budget.

Do you cook? You may have heard of the kitchen triangle, but zoning is important too. Where you stand to cook, clean and prep, these should all work in harmony. Positioning items into well defined connected areas will enhance the workflow within your kitchen. Prep near to food storage, and then in easy reach to serve, all reducing workload on your feet! The five defined work zones are, Consumables, Non-consumables, Cooking, Cleaning & Preparation.
